  “Greetings, family. We are here today to celebrate the union of Dederic and Seda as loving mates eternal and bestow upon them our blessing. Through tumultuous challenges and a generous helping of fate, they found each other and have requested that we be present to witness their commitment to each other and Ruarden.”

  Dederic’s eyes stay locked on mine and I smile and pour every ounce of love into my magic and into his soul.

  “As the Mother has seen fit to guide her son to his mate, so has she honored us with a new queen to crown. Seda has proven that her heart is strong, her will is fierce, and her loyalty is never ending. We thank you, sister, for your love and sacrifice and your commitment to Ruarden.” Ismeina’s eyes meet mine, and I nod in acknowledgment of her words.

  “Long live the queen,” she says and lifts a beautiful crown of gold and emerald up high and places it gently on my head.

  “Long live the queen!” The call is echoed loudly through the crowd and cheers and applause roar through the courtyard.

  Dederic grins and lets out a small chuckle before bending down close to my ear.

  “My Queen. My friend. My world. My mate. My fire. I will love you until the sun goes cold and the heavens fall from the sky. I am yours for as long as you’ll have me. I will raise you up and honor you now and always.”

  His voice is low and warm, and I lift a hand to stroke his face. He kisses me fiercely until we are both breathless and the sound of the crowd fades into the background. I press my forehead to his and drown in the happiness of this moment.

  “Forever,” I swear and rest my hand over his heart where the evidence of our commitment is written on our skin.

  “Forever,” he says.
